The life of Bill Gates is narrated through the eyes of his friends Steve Ballmer and Paul Allen.Most entrepreneurial activity is context-specific. The character of Bill Gates is shown over a similar period of time, with the various meetings between the pair covered, including the infamous snub for Gates by Jobs when Microsoft was starting on its road to personal computer dominance.

Much of the story of Jobs and Gates is told through the flashbacks and narration of business partners and friends, with the character of Wozniak used to relate the rise to prominence of Jobs.
